Who Signs up for Part D?
People who have signed up for Parts A and B and want prescription drug coverage, either now or in the future.
– Must sign up when first eligible or face late enrollment penalty (unless covered by a plan with drug coverage at least as comprehensive as Medicare — called "creditable coverage".
Two options for Part D
– Stand alone prescription drug plan
– Medicare Advantage Plan that includes prescription drug coverage
There are a variety of Part D Plans available with widely varying premiums and benefit coverage. Even if you do not take any prescriptions at this time you may want to consider acquiring this coverage when you initially become eligible.
